Nicholas couldn’t think of a single reason a gentleman had not fallen madly in love with Lillian.

Is it possible that the duke has feelings for her that he hasn’t previously admitted?

Nicholas Davenport, the Duke of Elmbury is friends with a woman who is a wallflower. Despite Lillian Rowe’s imperfections, she is a loyal companion. Her companionship truly enlivens the Season for him, and her brilliant conversation sustains his interest better than the rest of the ladies in London. After spending time with his childhood friend, he begins to have a change of heart, and his true feelings can no longer be ignored.

”Nicholas found himself taken aback by his own thoughts. His momentary fixation with Lillian’s keen blue eyes, and the gentle curve of her lips, was unexpected. When had he begun to realize how beautiful his childhood friend had become? When had his appreciation for her charms developed this new dimension?”

˃˃˃ Will romance blossom from the warmth of friendship?

Lillian told him plainly why a marriage between the two of them wouldn’t work. But she could not banish the thought from her mind of how happy the two of them could have perhaps been.

“It saddened her to think of Nicholas wed, to picture him happy at home with a wife who attended to his every need. Doubtless when he wed, the companionship of his bride would leave him with little need to seek Lillian’s company. She would fade to the edges of his life, just as she faded to the periphery of every crowd she found herself within.”

Falling For The Wallflower A Regency Romance edition by Amelia Florey Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Lilian Rowe has just about resigned herself to being a spinster. She is used to being a wallflower. There is only one man who takes any notice of her and he will only ever be just a good friend.
Nicholas Davenport, the Duke of Elmbury is trying to avoid all the marriage minded mamas. He shamelessly uses his good friend as a shield. She is the only one he can truly relax around.
A sweet and clean historical romance that is an entertaining and easy read.
A delightful look at the social season during the Regency period. Nicholas and Lillian have been friends since childhood and always enjoy each other's company so much more than anyone else's. Lillian, at 23, is almost beyond the age to have found a husband since that is the prime reason for having a Season in London. Nicholas is preoccupied to avoid marriage because there is no one he can imagine would keep him interested. Read this book to find out what happens with these very close and dear friends. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review to let others know how much I enjoyed reading it.
Being a member of the English Ton, may sound exciting, what with balls, soirees and afternoon teas, but if you are the shy retiring type, all the socializing these events entail would be loathsome and boring, Then, to be placed in a situation of having to attract the attention for a spouse, well I for one would be running for the hills. This is the way English society worked, and this is a story about two lifelong friends, who are enduring the London Season, just to find that elusive spouse.
I won’t go further, but it is a lovely story, well worth the time to read it.
I voluntarily submitted this review after reading an advanced copy of this book.
I started this book this morning and could not put it down. It was an unexpected pleasure true it took Nicholas ever so long to see what love really is, but thank God fate stepped in. I pick this book up as free download and I am so happy I did. This story is just the right length for a quick break from work. Plus you get a happy ending and see two character realize what they have together is real love. It truly was one of the better historical I have read. I am not part of any advance reading group I just wanted to give an honest review and let others know what a delight this book is.
Nicholas is a Duke and has a lot of pressure to find the right woman and settle down. However all the woman trying to get his attention bore him. The only woman he isn't bored with is his friend Lillian. Lillian has be out for several years but her shyness has kept her from finding a husband. She is considered a wallflower. Nicholas doesn't understand why no other man appreciates how wonderful Lillian is. As he spends more time with Lillian, he realizes that his feelings for her are more than friendship.
I really enjoyed Lillian as a character. She had quiet spirit and was a great person but very few people noticed her. I was happy she got her happily ever after. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
This is, quite simply, a lovely gentle romance about two close friends slowly realizing they mean so much more to each other. Totally appropriate to it's Regency period context yet the heroine here is not your typical Regency heroine but rather a surprisingly well-developed character for such a short book. The same is true for the hero. With a well-written plot this is almost a perfect Regency tale. I only have two criticisms. First that it was shorter than I would have preferred, but that's largely a sign that it was simply well done, and second that it ended a bit too abruptly. While it gave me the HEA I wanted, I would've loved to have had an epilogue showing the couple at some later point when they'd settled in to a comfortable and loving marriage. Neither of those are major problems, however, and I still highly recommend this book.
A truly awesome little romance. I'm a huge fan of this time period to begin with and to have a book so full of the pageantry and ballroom politics mixed with a delightfully different kind of romance was a breath of fresh air among all of the others! To show the friendship between perfectly upstanding gentlefolk with proper manners and just the right hint of sexual tension proves this writers skill! I was turning pages and laughing with delight along with the characters!!

As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock, this is a rare five heart book for me! Normally I reserve that for the Authors who manage to wrap me so tightly in their web that I cry along with the characters. This author earned it for the exact opposite reason. I was so happy at the end of this book, I laughed the next day even, just remembering!
Interesting storyline.
